There are many of us who grew up without a father physically present in the house. Many thoughts within our belief system can be traced to that fact. But the Master Prophet has freed us by teaching us that the "facts" of something is not the "truth" of something.

I also, like many of you, have had various mentors in my life. As we grow to different levels, we are challenged by different mentors. Sometimes we want to faint, but we know that if God loves you, he chastens you. (chastise is another word for discipline, derived from DISCIPLE)

Taking direction can be hard at times. But you must overcome by "blindly" trusting #1-the Father --who has put the right mentor in your life to collect whatever lessons you need . And #2 - the mentor, whom the Father provides. But you must KNOW, without a shadow of a doubt, that you are assigned to that person, otherwise, you will not withstand.

In this section of the book, the Master Prophet talks about Elisha becoming the head of the school of the prophets. When Elijah transferred his spirit to Elisha, the school came with the mantle (loyalty has it's privileges). The profound mystery revealed here, by the Master Prophet, is that Elisha could only receive Elijah's mantle by seeing Elijah as a father. Master Prophet Jordan teaches us here, that you cannot receive the spirit of an individual unless you are willing to be fathered or nurtured by the individual. The relationship between Elijah and Elisha, in the school of the prophets, was as teacher and student-- where the student was being discipled.

No matter what your discipline (your field, or branch of study), you need a master. In your prophetic discipline, you need the Master in the prophetic.

It is now time to answer the call to discipleship. There is a difference between being one of the masses or becoming a disciple. Many of you have come to a plateau in your careers, raising children, etc. The Kingdom of God has need of your special gifts. In Sunday school this week, we learned that the gifts that we have are not for ourselves. They are for the uplifting or the building of God's Kingdom.

You can be assured, that you would not have been interested in the prophetic had you not been called to it. Ever hear the expression, "Takes one to know one"? As a prophet in God's Kingdom know that there are three primary purposes or uses of the prophetic ministry: #1 - to point in a direction, #2 - to confirm, and #3 - to bring correction and building.

Once, the Master Prophet gave us an analogy of doctors having degrees vs. doctors who did not. Taking it a little further, would you prefer a doctor degreed from Sally Mae Davis School of Medicine or Harvard University? If you are a prophet, you need to be schooled by a Master. Every soul is subject (subject is another word for discipline). We know that the mentor will NOT be your cheerleader, but rather he/she will be your coach. The mentor will rub you sometimes like sandpaper but he/she is sanding down an "exterior condition" (we learned what those were in the first book review) that had you temporarily blinded (or distracted), from your destiny.

Remember the Karate Kid kept asking the Master to teach him karate? The student did not realize that he was learning his craft by painting the fence, and whatever other tasks that seemed insignificant. Sometimes we ask our mentors to teach us something while we are missing the menial tasks that help us keep on track. We have to always give thanks for any lesson we learn so it will not be re-sent to us. Who has time to learn lessons over and over? Get it over with, do what he/she says and keep it moving. Remember, you have a destiny to embrace!

To give you an example of how to recognize one of the disciplines (fields or branches of study)in your life, let's look at a part of my destiny: I was a campaign aide to a Governor, a U.S. Senator, and a Mayor. They were placed in my life to mentor me in the realm of politics. No matter what the task, large or small, I completed each and every task. You never know when you will have to reach back for that lesson or it's purpose in the grand scheme of things.

There were days when I worked at the Senator's campaign handling/answering hundreds of thousands of pieces of mail. In a small scheme of things, I remembered, I was able to take that lesson of mail into one of my future positions in helping to start a direct mail department. In the larger scheme of things, I reflected, that if I should run for a political office one day, I have the lessons from three political giants to take with me to my destiny.

Take a reflective look over your life this week, then ask yourself "Who has helped to shape my world?" " What lessons did I learn?" "Did I have to repeat any lessons?"

When you make a mistake, (and we do sometimes) just take the sanding. Look at it this way, you can always repaint what was sanded and you can make the colors more luxurious and luxurious...as you go.

God bless you and see you next week.

P.S. Answer the call to the prophetic by joining POME and attending Prophecology Part II-- August 11th - 14th ...God has a word for you, there is a new direction calling you...Destiny is not left up to chance--it is a matter of CHOICE.
